I am an evolutionary plant biologist fascinated by the processes that drive anatomical diversification in vascular plants. I am especially interested in habit transitions in plants, vascular variants, and all sorts of events that lead to increase anatomical complexity. My research explores these processes across two timescales: developmental (ontogeny) and evolutionary (phylogeny). I grew up in São Paulo, Brazil, where I completed my academic training at the University of São Paulo, followed by postdoctoral research at the Smithsonian Institution and São Paulo State University. I feel fortunate to work on what I am most passionate about, and I strive to foster that same sense of enthusiasm and curiosity in my lab.
